The California State PTA Legislation Action Committee met April 2-3, 2009. At this meeting, 32 bills were considered and positions were taken on the 30 bills listed below.

SUPPORT IF AMENDED: if amended to address PTA concerns or recommenda-tions, PTA will work to secure passage.
APPROVE: not a high priority or does not need PTA support.
SEEK AMENDMENTS: bill incomplete or author is working on amendments; PTA works with author/allied organiza-tions to change or shape the bill; pending bill changes position may change +/ -
OPPOSE: harmful to welfare of children and youth; PTA actively works to defeat.
OPPOSE UNLESS AMENDED: Some text conflicts with PTA positions; PTA works with author for change.
WATCH: may be important, but PTA remains neutral; follows progress.
